Lip Blush treatment questions

What is Lip Blushing?

Lip Blushing is a form of semi-permanent make up. Essentially, it is a cosmetic tattoo of the lips that enhances the beauty of the natural lip colour, improving the shape of the lips, giving definition and the illusion of fullness


How long does it Last?

Lip Blushing can last anywhere between 1-3 years depending on lifestyle and skin type. Sun is the major factor that fades

and lightens pigment and due to our lips being exposed on a regular basis, this is the major factor for fade out. Ensure you wear sunblock on the lips to prevent this.


How long is the appointment?

Lip Blushing can take up to 2h30min depending on the type of lip and the amount of saturation requested.


Can I do lip blushing if I have dark lips?

Yes you can but pigmentation in the lips is a process to correct. You would need on average 3 session in order to correct the pigmentation and to achieve a desired result.


Is it painful?

Local and secondary anesthetic is used so the pain is minimal and extremely comfortable.


How many sessions do I need?

2 sessions are required in order to achieve optimal results. The second procedures needs to take place 6 week after the initial session.


How do we pick a colour?

It depends on your preference. Should you wish to keep it natural, we will match the colour to your shade. Or should you wish to enhance your current colour, we will mix pigment to achieve the desired result. It’s best to send pictures of the colours you prefer so that we are able to prep before your appointment.


Does it heal really dark?

The Colour is always extremely dark once the procedure is complete, you do however lose 60-70% of the colour after the first week. The colour settles 3 weeks post procedure and is extremely soft and natural.


Will my lips be swollen?

You lips will be slightly swollen however the swelling goes down within an hour. It’s suggested to apply cold compress to the area to assist with any swelling.


If I suffer from cold sores can I do lip blushing?

It’s advised to take prescribed medication before attempting lip blushing should you suffer from herpes simplex. Consult a doctor should you wish to continue with this treatment


What are the do’s and dont’s with lip blushing?

Wipe lips regularly within the first 48 hours to remove any plasma

Apply A&D ointment regularly to saturate the lips

Don’t pick at the lips and let them heal naturally

Stay out of the sun

Don’t eat spicy or hot foods

Drink through a straw to aid in colour retention

Ensure you exfoliate your lips before the procedure.


Is Lip Blushing better than fillers?

Lip Blushing does not replace fillers, fillers give the lips volume where as Lip Blushing enhances the lips and corrects any pigmentation within the lips. It gives the illusion of a fuller lip and corrects symmetry issues. It can define the vermilion border and give the lips a more youthful look.
